Closing Bell: Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 October 2026
Closing Bell is a visual novel for Android published by ZYX Games ("we"). This page says what the game collects, why, who receives it, and how you can turn it off. The game has no accounts: you never give it your name, email address or a password.
In short
| What | Why | Who receives it | Your choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anonymous play statistics | To see which parts of the story are reached, and improve it | PostHog | Only if you allow it. Off at any time under Privacy in the menu |
| Advertising data, including your device's advertising ID | To show the ads you choose to watch | Google AdMob | Ad choices under Privacy in the menu, and your device's ad settings |
| Purchases | To unlock what you buy | Google Play | Buying is always your choice |
Play statistics
The first time you open the game it asks whether it may collect anonymous statistics. If you say no, none are collected. If you say yes, the game records events as you play: which episodes and scenes you reach, which choices you pick, which paid options you are offered and whether you use them, the game's version, and that you are playing on Android.
Each player is counted under a random ID that the game makes up on your device the first time it runs. It is not your name, your Google account, your advertising ID or any other identifier of your device, and we cannot tell from it who you are. Clearing the game's data or reinstalling it gives you a new one.
These events are sent to PostHog (PostHog Inc.), which stores them for us. As with any internet connection, PostHog's servers see the IP address the events come from; we instruct PostHog not to use it to work out where you are. We do not sell these statistics or share them with anyone else.
You can change your answer at any time: open Privacy in the game's main menu and switch statistics off. Anything recorded on your device and not yet sent is deleted, and nothing further is recorded.
Advertising
Some choices in the story can be unlocked by watching an advertisement. An ad is only ever shown when you press a button that says so. The ads come from Google AdMob.
To show and measure ads, Google collects information from your device, including its advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from that address, and how you interact with the ad. Google may use this to show ads that are personalised to you, where the law and your choices allow it. How Google uses this information is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game shows Google's consent form before any ad is requested, and you can reopen it under Privacy > Ad choices in the main menu. Residents of some US states can use the same screen to opt out of the sale or sharing of their data for advertising. On any Android device you can also reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings > Google > Ads.
Purchases
Purchases are made through Google Play, which handles the payment. The game never sees your card or payment details. Google Play tells the game only which of its products your Google account owns, so that it can unlock them, including on a new device. Google's handling of your payment is covered by Google's privacy policy.
What stays on your device
Your progress in the story, your answer about statistics, and a note of which products you own are saved on your device so that the game works without a connection. They are removed when you clear the game's data or uninstall it.
Children
Closing Bell deals with adult workplace and romantic themes and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Your rights and how to reach us
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct or delete information held about you, or to object to its use. Because play statistics are kept under a random ID with nothing that identifies you, we usually cannot find one person's statistics; switching statistics off in the game stops any more being collected. For information held by Google, use the controls described above and in Google's own policies.

Changes to this policy
If what the game collects changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed.
